International Alcohol Control Study (IAC) working meeting

3rd / 4th June, 9:30-17:30

The International Alcohol Control Study (the IAC Study) is the first international study of alcohol use and alcohol policy relevant behaviours. It currently has 12 countries participating (six middle income and six high income). It provides a research platform for collecting survey data from drinkers and an assessment of the alcohol environment. We welcome researchers (without any conflict of interest related to alcohol industry funding) to join, if you are interested you are welcome to come to the meeting.

GENAHTO (Gender and Alcohol’s Harms to Others)

3rd June, 10:00-17:30

The GENAHTO Project (Gender and Alcohol’s Harm to Others) attempts to assess the types, severity, and individual and contextual correlates of harms from others’ heavy drinking in a wide range of societies with varying drinking cultures and alcohol policies. Supported by a new grant from the U.S. National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), GENAHTO is led by Multiple Principal Investigators Kim Bloomfield, Tom Greenfield, and Sharon Wilsnack. Key personnel for the GENAHTO grant are from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Switzerland, and the U.S. Participation in the June 3-4 GENAHTO workshop is by invitation. Key personnel of the GENAHTO grant will participate on both Saturday and Sunday; GENAHTO consultants will join the workshop all day Sunday, and country survey directors will be invited to participate Sunday afternoon.
