General terms and conditions

1) General

The following terms and conditions set out the legal rules applicable to the KBS 2010 Symposium. Participants shall be bound by these terms and conditions upon registering for the symposium and are advised to read and understand these terms carefully before registering. The KBS 2010 Symposium organizers will not accept any conditions contradictory to or deviant from our general terms and conditions and herewith contradicts these explicitly.

2) Service

The nature and scope of the KBS 2010 Symposium are described on the website http://www.kbs2010.ch.

3) Symposium organizers affiliation

The organism responsible for the organization of the KBS 2010 Symposium is the Swiss Institute for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug ProblemExternal link, located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

4) Registration

Registration to the KBS 2010 Symposium must be done through the online registration system. Participants will receive a automatic confirmation of the registration details. If you do not obtain anything, please send an email to the administration using the online contact form to make sure that we have received your booking. Registration will only be effective on receipt of the registration fee or after authorization of credit card payment.
Please notify any corrections to your registration immediately.

5) Fees and Payment Conditions

Fees include VAT, if applicable.

Registration fees include
- admission to all conference sessions
- book of abstracts, detailed program, list of participants
- conference proceedings on a CD ROM
- morning and afternoon refreshment breaks.

Early bird registration fee apply until April 1, 2010. Thereafter a late fee of CHF 120.00 will be charged.

Sightseeing tours and social dinner are excluded from registration fees and result in additional expenses.

We recommend using the on-line payment (Master Card, Visa, American Express and JCB) when registering for the KBS 2010 Symposium. The alternative is a bank transfer. See the registration pages on the website for detailed bank information. After the online payment you will receive an automatic e-mail message that the transaction was successful. This message contains a hyperlink enabling the customer to print out an invoice with receipt of payment. Registrants paying via bank transfer can print out an invoice after completion of their online registration. All payments are made in Swiss Francs (CHF).

6) Cancellation

Participants shall be entitled to cancel their registration in writing (post, fax, e-mail). In case of cancellation the registration before May 1, 2010 fee will be fully refunded. For cancellations between May 1 and May 29, 2010, 50% of the total amount paid will be refunded. For cancellations on or after May 30, 2010 there will be no refund and the full amount will remain due. The date of receipt shall be decisive. Participants, who do not cancel and do not attend, will still be responsible for the full registration fee. The Other Party has the right to appoint a substitute at any time without additional cost.

The cancellation policies described above for the registration fees also apply for the social dinner fees and the social tours fees.

KBS2010 organizers reserves the right to modify the content of the program, the speakers and the times of presentations. If the number of participants is insufficient, KBS2010 organizers reserves the right to cancel the symposium conference and all related products and/or services without any liability on our part. In the case of a cancellation by the KBS2010 organizers, you will be reimbursed the registration fee actually paid.

7) Liability

The contributors have been carefully selected and the Symposium has been carefully prepared. KBS2010 organizers cannot accept liability for the up-to-dateness, correctness and completeness in respect to conference documentation and content, unless the damage is the direct consequence of an intentional act or gross negligence.

Neither the KBS 2010 organizers nor the Swiss Institute for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Problems will assume any responsibility whatsoever for any damage or injury to persons or property during the symposium.

8) Disputes

All agreements between KBS 2010 organizers and the Other Party and all disputes which may arise between the Parties shall be exclusively subject to Swiss Law.

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid, the invalidity of that provision will not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions, which shall remain in full force and effect.

9) Privacy Policy

All personal data provided to KBS 2010 organizers for registration will be treated as confidential. The data shall be used and stored for further processing and documentation purposes. The information will not be re-used for an incompatible purpose. Data shall be delivered to assigned service providers, as deemed necessary for the successful performance of the symposium. KBS 2010 organizers will only disclose information to third parties if that is necessary for the fulfillment of the purpose(s) identified above.
